Get New Roof For Elderly Woman In New Hampshire
How Rural Development Helped:
Rural Development Community Development Manager Richard M. Roderick of the Woodsville, New Hampshire local office, met with Ms. B and her daughter at the Plymouth Senior Center where he meets with customers on a monthly basis. After helping Ms. B complete her application he made arrangements to visit and inspect her home. His inspection indicated that in addition to the needed work on the roof, the home also needed insulation, smoke detectors, GFI outlets, and to be secured to the ground. Ms B. had the roofing contractor give an additional bid for the extra work needed.
The Results:
The total cost of the repairs was now $4,500. A Rural Development home repair grant of $2,500 covered the additional $700 needed for the roof, and the additional work. Ms. B not only got a new roof, but also has a more energy-efficient home with added safety features.
